JOYCE KATLENBERGER (nee CROCKER) Peacefully on March 18, 2004, Joyce passed away at the Grace Hospital. Joyce was predeceased by her husband of over 47 years, Alex, and by her two brothers, Don and Dan Crocker. She is survived by her children Lynn (Dawna) with Kaitlyn, Patty (Paul) Murata with Chris and Alison; and Marianne (Randy) Palmer with Jeannine and Alexander; brother William (Bill) and sister-in-law Nancy, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joyce was born in St. James on August 6, 1927 and grew up on the North Devon Dairy and attended school in St. James. She graduated from Nursing at St. Boniface Hospital in 1949 and worked as a nurse at Misercordia Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1991. In May, 1950 she married Alex Kaltenberger and they raised their family in St. James. Joyce was very involved in the life and work of St. James Gospel Chapel. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Joyce led by example in her faith. Joyce will always be remembered for her caregiving nature which extended far beyond her profession. She was an avid gardener and won countless awards and ribbon at various flower shows. She was involved in the St. James Horticultural Society Garden Club and the Flower Arranging group. Joyce also enjoyed travel and took many pleasure trips. Service will be held on Monday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment and reception will follow. The family sends special thanks to her Home Care workers and the staff in the Emergency Department and on 5N at the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba, the Grace Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
